The People’s Democratic Party, PDP has suffered a huge setback in Abia State following the death of it’s governorship candidate, Prof Uchenna Ikonne.
Prof Uchenna Ikonne’s death was announced in a statement on Wednesday by his son, Uche-Ikonne Chikezie.
According to the younger Ikonne, the PDP governorship candidate died around 4am today, January 25, 2023 after a brief illness. He died at the National Hospital Abuja.
“He was recovering after taking proper treatment in the United Kingdom but relapsed a few days ago leading to multiple cardiac arrests for which he didn’t recover from.
“Further details and arrangements would be made known to the public after deliberations and meetings are made within the family,”
The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba told Channels Television that the party will issue a statement after receiving briefing from the state chapter
