The National Executive Council of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will hold a crucial meeting on Saturday, December 3, 2022 to decide on issues concerning members welfare.

VANTAGE NEWS reports that the meeting which would decide the next line of action by the union is set to hold in Calabar.

Recall that the lecturers just over a month ago called off an 8-month strike that was embarked upon in protest against poor working conditions and poor funding of universities.

A member of the NEC who spoke with Daily Sun said the meeting will be held at the University of Calabar.

The scheduled meeting is coming hours after the Federal Government paid university lecturers full salaries for just the month of November.

Another member told VANTAGE NEWS that the issue of strike cannot be ruled out since the government has “refused to listen to the voice of reason.”

VANTAGE NEWS reports that members of the union protested over the half salary received in the month of October, insisting that the government must pay for the entire 8 months that they were on strike.
