The senator that represented Kaduna Central in the 8th assembly, Shehu Sani has suggested that insecurity was responsible for the decision of the Federal Government to postpone the date for resumption of operations of Abuja-Kaduna train services.
VANTAGE NEWS reports that the resumption of services at the Abuja-Kaduna train service was on Sunday postponed till further notice.
The resumption extension was announced by the Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Sambo.
VANTAGE NEWS reports that Sambo did not give any reason for the resumption extension and also failed to reveal when the services will resume.
Recall that the Nigerian Railway Corporation suspended its services on the route in March 2022 when terrorists attacked and abducted many passengers heading to Kaduna. Some people were killed during the deadly attack.
Reacting to the postponement of the resumption date, Sani said the safety of passengers must be guaranteed before resuming operations.
The resumption of the Kaduna Abuja Train services should not be done for political reasons or for campaigns. There should be adequate security arrangements that will secure the lives of passengers and Railway https://t.co/fxVaEuTwqu and safety first and not politics.
