The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has defended his decision to support the presidential campaign of the Labour Party’s candidate, Peter Obi in the state.
VANTAGE NEWS reported that Wike who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party promised to offer logistics support to Obi during his presidential campaign in the state.
Wike made the pledge last week when the former governor of Anambra State commissioned a flyover project in the state.
Speaking in Port Harcourt the state capital on Saturday, Wike said Obi deserves the support as a former governor.
He stated further that the Labour Party will not win any position in the state.
Wike said, “I have no regret in saying I will support Obi with logistics. He is a former governor, and if he is coming to campaign here, I will give him logistics support.
“I will give him vehicles, and security; I must give him logistics support. And I told him yesterday that his party will not get even one position in Rivers, not House of Assembly; there is no other party in Rivers. The only party we have here is PDP, Rivers State chapter.”
