The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) concluded that it would stage embark on a one-day protest over the decision of the federal government to implement a “No-Work-No-Pay” policy.
VANTAGE NEWS reports that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has refused to pay the university staff for the eight months they embarked on strike in 2022.
The planned protest would hold at the branch level of the union across public university campuses nationwide, with lectures suspended for the one-day protest.
It was gathered that ASUU unions across the federation are expected to pick a date for their protest rally.
The chairman of ASUU, University of Lagos (UNILAG) branch, Dr. Dele Ashiru, who confirmed the news to Nigerian Tribune on Sunday said UNILAG-ASUU had fixed Tuesday, November 15, for its own rally.
He pointed out that the protest rally is aimed at drawing attention of Nigerians to ASUU’s strong dissatisfaction with the Buhari Government’s attempt at destroying university education in the country.
