The Labour Party has blasted the All Progressives Congress (APC) for claiming that a false report that the Independent National Electoral Commission was investigating it’s presidential candidate emanated from them.
Recall that a fake letter claiming that INEC was investigating Bola Tinubu over his alleged involvement in drug trafficking emanated on Friday.
Reacting through a statement released on Sunday, the Director of Media and Publicity of the APC Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga accused the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party of being responsible for the fake news.
Onanuga boasted that LP and PDP have taken to campaign of calumny because they have realised they have no chance of winning the election in 2023.
But responding in an interview with Vanguard on Sunday, the head spokesperson of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, Yunusa Tanko said it was laughable that a party that has a candidate with certificate issues would accuse it of doing same.
Yunusa warned the APC Campaign to desist from dragging it into its sinking campaign with baseless allegations.
He said, “It is on record that our presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has never falsified any record about his age, his academic credentials, or had cause to deny his place or birth or his parents.
“It is inconceivable for a presidential campaign whose candidate has been unable to come clean about his background to accuse us of conniving with another opposition party to falsify documents.
