The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has berated his counterpart in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, for not attending the presidential debate on Sunday.
VANTAGE NEWS reported that the debate was organised by Arise Television in collaboration with the Centre for Development and Democracy (CDD) at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja on Sunday.
Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Kwankwaso, and the vice presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Ifeanyi Okowa who represented Atiku Abubakar were present at the debate.
Reacting to the absence of Tinubu at the debate, Kwankwaso criticized the former Lagos State governor for failing to even send a representative like Atiku.
Kwankwaso, who spoke against the backdrop of a protest against the presence of the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, at the debate, said it was better to send a representative than not doing any at all.
“No candidate can boast of saying ‘I will attend all of them.’ Whichever group that is having this sort of thing should accept it. I think the man sitting here (pointing to Okowa) is better than the person who did not come or send any representative,” he said.
