The Flamingos defeated the United States of America in the first quarter-final of the ongoing Under 17 World Cup in India to advance to the semi-final of the tournament.
Nigeria took the lead in the 27th minute through a penalty converted by Omamuzo Edafe but the USA equalized in the 40th minute through Amalia Villarreal.
The game ended in a 1-1 draw and went into penalties where the Nigerian girls emerged victorious.
Nigeria converted four of their penalties against three converted by the USA.
The Flamingos next face either Tanzania or Colombia in the semi-final.
It is the first time the Under 17 girls of Nigeria will play in the semi-final of the tournament.
