The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore on Monday claimed that he had rescued Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi twice from moves to end his political career.
VANTAGE NEWS reports that Sowore said this in Lagos after arriving for the memorial lecture held in honour of the late human rights lawyer and activist, Chief Gani Fawehinmi.
Sowore said forces were on the verge of stopping the former governor of Anambra State from becoming Labour Party standard flagbearer months ago until he came through for him.
The popular activist stated that there were attempts no to present Obi as the party’s candidate for the 2023 ticket but that he alongside Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and human rights activist, Femi Falana, took legal steps to defend Obi.
He explained further that he obtained judgement from the Court of Appeal, and handed it over to Falana to use it to defend the Labour Party, and by extension, Peter Obi’s candidacy.
“Yes! I’m just telling you that we’re in the business of saving people,” Sowore boasted.
Speaking further, Sowore stated that h saved Obi during his time as Anambra governor “when Obasanjo was mpeaching everybody impeachable.”
He revealed that he used his news platform to save Obi at the time.
