Fighting between rival Iraqi forces has continued for a second day in Baghdad, where 30 people are reportedly killed and hundreds more wounded.
Iraq’s government has been deadlocked since populist leader Muqtada al-Sadr’s party won the most seats in October parliamentary elections but not enough to secure a majority government.
Even though Sadr has called on his supporters to fully withdraw from Baghdad’s Green Zone, violence has continued to rage on in the Iraqi capital.
Sadr supporters fired rocket-propelled grenades and machine guns at the Green Zone, as security forces returned fire.

Al-Sadr announced his resignation from politics two days ago and is expected to make a speech.
