Renowned novelist, Chimamanda Adichie, has stated that she is not related to the murdered 40-year-old lady from Anambra State, Nkiru Okoye.
The award-winning novelist, made this known while reacting to multiple reports that the late Nkiru was related to her.
Recall that Nkiru was murdered in Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State by her brother-in-law, George Okoye who beat her to death over the ownership of some disputed landed property.
VANTAGE NEWS reports that the suspect, who is currently in police custody, was said to have invaded the home of the victim, alongside some of his immediate family members, and attacked Emenike and his wife.
Reacting in a statement obtained by VANTAGE NEWS, a member of Chimamanda’s communications team, Omawumi Ogbe said the “lady in the story is neither Chimamanda’s sister nor a relative”.
“Chimamanda is very shaken by this incorrect news and is disappointed at the unprofessionalism displayed by The Frontier, both with the first false post and the inaccurate rejoinder.
“We send our sympathy to the family of the murdered lady,” she added.
