Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor has dismissed the rumour that his client and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) was poisoned in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Recall that Kanu has been in DSS custody for over a year where he is currently facing trial over alleged treason.
There were unconfirmed reports during the week that Kanu had been poisoned while in the custody of DSS.
Reacting via his verified Facebook handle late on Thursday, Ejiofor who is Kanu’s lead counsel said there was no truth in the rumour.
- He revealed that he had earlier in the day paid a routine visit to the IPOB leader, adding that he was in good condition.
Ejiofor wrote, “Lt me use this medium to advise Umuchineke to discountenance rumor mongers who are at it again.
“Please Note that ONYENDU Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was never poisoned in the facility of the S.S.S. Ignore the mischief makers, please.
“Routine visit was conducted today and those who visited including my junior collegue in Chambers, spent quality time with ONYENDU.
“Thank you all and remain blessed.”
