Adeleke Defeats Oyetola At Govt House Polling Unit
Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has defeated the Governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Government House polling unit in Osogbo.
While Adeleke polled 117 votes at Agowande/ Oshogbo GRA/ Governor’s office polling unit, Oyetola scored 106 votes.
The polling unit is in Olorunda Local Government Area.
Adeleke Wins Polling Unit, Defeats Oyetola
The Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate in Osun State, Ademola Adeleke has won his polling unit in the ongoing gubernatorial election in the state.
Earlier, Adeleke cast his vote at Unit 009, Ward 02, Abogunde/Sagba, Ede North in the state.
Adeleke defeated the current Governor of the state and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gboyega Oyetola in that polling unit.
The PDP governorship candidate, Adeleke polled 218 votes in his polling unit on Saturday.
The state Governor, Oyetola polled 23 votes while Dr Akin Ogunbiyi of Accord Party had one vote.
In a related development, Senator Adeleke of the PDP gathered 47 votes at Polling Unit 05, Ward 07 in Ilesa West Local Government Area, while Oyetola polled 17 votes.
A total of 120 voters registered in the polling unit while 71 were accredited for the ongoing governorship election.
The total number of valid votes was 67 while four votes were voided.
Voting is ongoing at the Osun State governorship election which kicked off Saturday morning with many residents coming out in their numbers to decide who will pilot the affairs of the State for the next four years.
While the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is hoping to retain the state for at least another four years, the opposition parties like the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party, Accord Party and others are hustling to wrestle power from them.
APC’s candidate and the incumbent governor, Gboyega Oyetola is facing stiff competition from Senator Ademola Adeleke of the PDP, Rt Hon. Yusuf Lasun of the Labour Party and Akin Ogunbiyi of the Accord Party.
