The Super Falcons of Nigeria will hope to put their opening game defeat to South Africa behind them as they face Botswana in the second fixture of the ongoing 2022 Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Recall that the coach Randy Waldrum-led side lost 2-1 to the Bayana Bayana of South Africa in the opening game the Super Falcons were totally outplayed in all departments.
The Super Falcons will play the rest of the tournament without star player, Asisat Oshoala who was ruled out after sustaining an injury in the first half of the encounter against South Africa.
A win in the game against Botswana will boost the Super Falcon’s chances of making it to the quarter-final of the tournament.
VANTAGE NEWS reports that the four semi-finalists of the tournament would automatically qualify for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Botswana defeated Burundi 4-2 in their opening encounter to go top of the standings ahead of South Africa, the Super Falcons and Burundi in Group C.
