Senator Sani Reacts To Attack On Enugu INEC Offices

Senator Shehu Sani has condemned the attacks on the offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Enugu State.

Recall that INEC office in Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State was burnt down by arsonists.

INEC’s National Commissioner, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, in a statement disclosed that there were no casualties recorded in the attack that occurred around 11:48 pm on Sunday, July 3.

According to Okoye, “arsonists overpowered the security guards, forced their way into the premises, and set the building ablaze.

He added that 748 ballot boxes, 24 voting cubicles, office furniture and equipment were destroyed despite the “best effort of the Enugu State Fire Service deployed from Nsukka.”

Arsonists have in recent months burnt down various offices of the electoral body in the state.

In his reaction, Sani that represented Kaduna Central stated that the arsonists do not want elections to hold in the area.
