There was palpable fear in the hip-hop community again after Lil Tjay became the latest victim of a shooting incident.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office released a press statement which confirmed that the rapper sustained multiple gunshot wounds after the shooting incident earlier this month.
The 21-year-old was shot just after midnight in Edgewater, New Jersey on June 22nd, the press release from the Broward County Prosecutor’s Office revealed.
It’s been almost a week since the shooting and fans are now concerned about the rapper’s condition, wondering if he is alive and well.
Due to a lack of updates regarding Lil Tjay, several rumors surfaced , with some articles claiming Lil Tjay’s brain death, while several users on Twitter also started spreading reports about the rapper being paralyzed after sustaining injuries.
Others also claimed that he already died in the hospital.
Lil Tjay is alive and ‘stable’
Not much of an update has been seen on Lil Tjay’s condition for a while now, but he is alive and presumably still being treated in hospital for his injuries.
As reported by TMZ, Lil Tjay underwent “emergency surgery” following the shooting, but the extent of his injuries was never revealed.
A source told TMZ that the rapper was out of surgery and “appears to be doing better” but said he’s “still not out of the woods yet”.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office then revealed on June 22nd that his condition had been upgraded from “critical to stable”.
That’s the last we heard about Lil Tjay’s condition following the shooting, but that didn’t stop a number of false rumours are spreading online.
Lil Tjay isn’t ‘paralysed’ or ‘brain dead’
Rumours have been flooding the internet that Lil Tjay is paralysed following the accident, but this is not true.
The fake reports stem from a tweet posted on June 25th that reads: “JUST IN – The Doctor Raheem Smith said Lil Tjay will be paralyzed for the rest of his life. He got 5 of 7 shots in the chest area and 2 in the spine.”
“He is not able to move his upper body. He also has only a 15% Chance to survive the attack. Pray for Lil Tjay,” it continues.
Many fake news sites have been sharing the false story, leading many to wrongly believe that he has been paralysed.
Other reports say that he is brain dead or in a coma, with one headline reading: “Rapper Lil Tjay Reportedly Brain Dead After He Was Shot 7 Times During Armed Robbery Attempt.”
However, these are fake reports too and Lil Tjay is not paralysed or brain dead. All we know about his condition right now is that he is out of surgery and “stable”.
