Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has listed conditions that may sway him to accept a consensus arrangement for the emergence of a presidential candidate for the 2023 elections among the aspirants in the Peoples Democratic Party.
This is as he also accused those seeking a consensus PDP presidential candidate of not being “sincere”, adding that he was ready to support whoever emerges as the presidential flagbearer of the party.
Wike was speaking in Minna, the Niger State capital, on Saturday, when he visited PDP delegates ahead of the PDP’s presidential primary.
The former Minister of State for Education said he would agree to a consensus if it was based on equity, justice, and fairness.
Wike also noted that he had been a member of the party since 1998 and that he had never left the party despite its turbulent season.
“I will agree on consensus if it is based on equity, justice, and fairness because as it is, those who are talking about consensus are not sincere and there is nothing like consensus in our constitution.
“Whoever emerges as the flagbearer, I will do whatever I can to ensure that the PDP wins the election,” he said.
