Grammys 2022: Wizkid, Burna Boy, Femi Kuti Expectant Today

The 2022 Grammy Awards will hold today and there are expectations within the Nigerian music industry that its nominated artistes will clinch the trophy.

It is the 64th Annual Grammy Awards which will honour the works of music artists from the past year across 86 categories, including two new awards.

Nigerian artists Wizkid and Femi Kuti were both nominated in two categories, the Best Global Music Performance and Best Global Music Album categories.

Femi Kuti’s Pà Pá Pà was nominated in the Best Global Music Performance category while Wizkid Featuring Tems Essence was nominated in the same category.

Wizkid’s Made in Lagos was nominated in the Best Global Music Album category and Femi Kuti and Made Kuti’s Legacy + made the same category.

Burna Boy, who won the Grammy last year earned a nomination again with Do Yourself, a song by Angélique Kidjo.

Burna Boy and Wizkid made history after winning their first-ever Grammy in the 2021 Awards.

Burna Boy won the award for the ‘Best World Music” category with his ‘Twice As Tall’ album while Wizkid clinched the prize for his collaboration with American Singer Beyonce and her daughter Blue Ivy for the track “Brown Skin Girl” in the ‘Best Music Video” category.

When are the 2022 Grammy Awards?

The 64th Grammy Awards will be held on Sunday, April 3 at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET.

Where are the Grammy Awards this year?

This award which is typically held at Los Angeles or New York year’s Grammy Awards will take place in Las Vegas for the first time this year. The ceremony will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, same place the Latin Grammys took place in 2021.
