The Mbieri Divisional headquarters situated in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State was on Friday morning attacked by gunmen.

This makes it the fifth attack on Divisional Police headquarters by gunmen since they renewed their hostilities in the state in the past one month.

It was learned that the attackers arrived at Mbieri Divisional headquarters around 3 am and opened fire on the police facility.

According to the police spokesperson for the command, Micheal Abattam, the attack was a foiled attack.

He said that Petrol bombs the attackers threw at the police formation only affected a part of the roof, adding that one vehicle was also affected.
