President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to meet with some governors and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday, a day to the long awaited national convention of the ruling party, VANTAGE NEWS reports.
Buhari, who is trying hard to prevent the APC from collapse at the national convention, which holds on Saturday, held series of meetings with some party leaders late on Thursday.
Recall that the president had on Wednesday met with APC governors to discuss the success of the convention.
Buhari, had while addressing the governors during the meeting at the State House on Wednesday, told them to draw up a list of the candidates for all positions ahead of the convention.
VANTAGE NEWS reports that some governors and leaders of the party are not happy over the decision of Buhari to impose Senator Abdullahi Adamu as the consensus candidate for the chairmanship position.
Multiple reports reveal that top guns of the party present at yesterday’s meeting include the interim Chairman of the party, Bisi Akande; national leader, Bola Tinubu; Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai; and Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbomnaya Onu.
Others include Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau; Senator Aliyu Wamako; Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State; the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Chairman, Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the party, Mai Mala Buni; and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.
VANTAGE NEWS reports that Buhari hopes to use Friday’s meeting to appease the aggrieved governors and leaders of the party before the convention that holds in less than 24 hours.
