The Cross River State House of Assembly was on Tuesday taken over by armed policemen.
Vantage News reports that the policemen drawn from the anti-kidnapping squad and regular policemen were also seen around the routes leading to the House of Assembly.
The security operatives ensured that movement into the Assembly complex on Diamond Hill was restricted.
Their occupation of the Assembly complex followed the High Court ruling on Monday sacking 20 lawmakers in the state for defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
The lawmakers were sacked by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
The court, in a judgement that was delivered by Justice Taiwo Taiwo, held that the lawmakers, having abandoned the political party that sponsored them to power, ought to vacate their seats.
