Senator Shehu Sani has advised the UK government not to destroy English Premier League club Chelsea whose owner Roman Abramovich has been sanctioned.
VANTAGE NEWS reported on Tuesday that the Russian billionaire owner of the European champions is among seven Russian oligarchs sanctioned by the United Kingdom over Russia’s military action in Ukraine, throwing Chelsea into crisis.
Reacting to the news via his verified Twitter handle, Senator Sani who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate of Nigeria, said the UK government should avoid ruining Chelsea as “the Club and its owner have nothing to do with the Ukraine war.”
The UK Authorities should not ruin @ChelseaFC because of their anger over Russia;the Club and its owner have nothing to do with the Ukraine war.If war has rules sanctions should also.

With the UK government’s action, Abramovich has been effectively blocked from selling the London club which he had earlier put up for sale when the Russia-Ukraine crisis escalated.
Chelsea have been granted a special license under which they will be allowed to operate as a football club, but the conditions on them are onerous. The U.K. government has, however, said they are open to selling Chelsea.
