Telecommunications company, Three has announced that it is suspending its shirt sponsorship deal with Chelsea after the UK government slapped sanctions on Russian owner of the Premier League club Roman Abramovich.
A spokesman for the mobile network provider said it felt the temporary suspension was “the right thing to do” in light of the asset freeze and travel ban on the billionaire.
We recognise that this decision will impact the many Chelsea fans who follow their team passionately. However, we feel that given the circumstances, and the Government sanction that is in place, it is the right thing to do. 2/2

VANTAGE NEWS earlier reported that the UK government has effectively blocked the sale of Chelsea FC after sanctioning Russian owner, Roman Abramovich over Russia’s military action in Ukraine.
The billionaire Russian oligarch will have all his assets frozen, banned from coming to Britain and from doing business there.
Chelsea have been granted a special licence to continue playing but Abramovich will not profit from the club. The club is also not allowed to sell tickets – with only season ticket holders being able to attend fixtures.
