Yoruba Rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo aka Igboho will not leave Benin Republic despite his release from custody.
VANTAGE NEWS had reported that Igboho was released on Monday after months in the custody of Benenois authorities for illegal entry into the country.
He was arrested while fleeing his Ibadan home following a move by security operatives to arrest him.
Counsel to Igboho, Yomi Aliyyu (SAN), in a message to Punch, said part of the condition for his release was that he will not leave Cotonou for any reason.
He said, “I am to inform you that Chief Sunday Adeyemo, aka Igboho Oosa, has been released from prison to his medical practitioners under the agreement that he should not leave the medical centre or Cotonou for any reason.
“Praises should be given to two prominent Yoruba personalities to wit; Prof Wole Soyinka and Prof (Banji) Akintoye, for this turnaround in our client’s matter.”
VANTAGE NEWS reports that Igboho was freed on medical grounds after months of diplomatic meetings between Yoruba leaders and the government of President Patrice Talon of Benin Republic.
