The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, and his Deputy, Eric Kelechi, were on Tuesday sacked by a Federal High Court in Abuja for defecting to the All Progressives Congress.
Recall that Umahi and Kelechi dumped the Peoples Democratic Party to join the ruling APC.
Delivering judgement on the matter, Justice Inyang Ekwo held that the total number of 393,042 votes Umahi secured at the 9th March 2019 Ebonyi State governorship election, belonged to the PDP, hence could not be legally transferred to the APC.
Ekwo ruled that by defecting to the APC, Umahi threw away all the votes that brought him to office as Governor under the PDP.
