Just few days after signing the Electoral Act 2022, President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the Senate for another amendment.

In a letter addressed to the Senate, and read by President Ahmad Lawan, at the plenary, Buhari asked the federal parliament to consider the outright deletion of Section 84 (12).

It is the section that has to do with the resignation of political appointees before party primaries.

According to President Buhari, the provision amounted to the disenfranchisement of political appointees.
