A fire incident at the mortuary section of the General Hospital, Onitsha, Anambra State has reportedly burnt over 400 corpses.

The mortuary building located behind the hospital facility was razed by the fire which lasted about three hours on Saturday.

The fire was said to have emanated from a burning bush behind the morgue.

It was gathered that when the fire started, mortuary attendants on duty poured water mixed with detergent to quench it.

However, when the fire escalated, they called the state fire service but the fire had already done a lot of damages before their arrival.
