The Super Eagles of Nigeria began the 2021 African Cup of Nations holding in Cameroon with a 1-0 win over the Pharaohs of Egypt.
Kelechi Iheanacho scored the only goal of the game on the 30th minute of the encounter played in Garoua on Tuesday evening.
The score could have been more if the Super Eagles were more clinical in front of the Pharaohs goal post.
African footballer of the year, Mohammed Salah was quiet in the game as he was kept out by the Nigerian defence led by William Troost-Ekong.
The Super Eagles will next play against Sudan on Saturday.
