Lionel Messi has been awarded the Ballon d’Or for a record seventh time with the best players in the world crowned at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.
Robert Lewandowski finished second in the voting with Jorginho third while Barcelona Femini star Alexias Putellas won the Women’s Ballon d’Or.
“I don’t know how many years I have left, but I hope there will still be many because I am having enormous fun,” Messi said at the France Football ceremony.

The Argentine also paid special tribute to Lewandowski for being the best player last year when the award didn’t hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“You deserve your Ballon d’Or,” Messi said, referring to the Polish striker. “Last year, everyone was in agreement to say that you were the big winner.”
Messi winning the seventh Ballon d’Or is unprecedent. The 34-year-old won this award for the first time back in 2009.
