Results of elections conducted for political offices in Nigeria can now be monitored online as they are being released.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had in August 2020 announced the introduction of a dedicated public election result viewing portal, known as “The INEC Result Viewing (IReV)”.
The portal will allow interested individuals, election observers, and others to monitor all Nigeria election results as they are being released by electoral officers from different polling units.
It was first tested during state assembly rerun in Nasarawa state, before being used to report polling unit results from the Ondo and Edo Governorship Election and is being used for Anambra governorship elections.
However, INEC issued a disclaimer, that the platform provides information for research purposes and will not be used for Election result collation.
Registration of the user is however required to view the results, below are the guidelines on how to access the portal.
- Visit https://inecelectionresults.com/
- Click create an account and enter the required details
- Click signup and enter the verification code sent to your email
As at the time of filing this report, a peep into the INEC portal shows that a total of 1722 results has been submitted out of 2627 expected from the 2020 Edo State Governorship Election Result.
