Cristiano Ronaldo was once again the hero as Manchester United came from behind twice to get a 2-2 draw at Atalanta on Tuesday night.

Just as in the reverse fixture, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men slipped behind within the first 15 minutes of the game, as David de Gea was easily beaten by a Josip Illcic strike.

But United recovered soon after, creating a raft of chances, with the pressure eventually paying off.

A terrific team move saw Bruno Fernandes beautifully teeing up Cristiano Ronaldo, who expectedly fired home.

Inside the first 10 minutes of the second half, however, Duvan Zapata latched onto a through ball, managing to turn the ball past De Gea to give Atalanta a crucial advantage.

The goal was initially ruled out due to an offside infringement, but on closer inspection, it was a much tighter call than the official had anticipated. Following a lengthy check, VAR awarded the goal.

It was almost looking like another United loss, but in stoppage time, Ronaldo stepped up to unleash a perfectly directed volley into the corner of the Atalanta net, to earn United a vital point.
