A former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has said the Federal Government plans to ban all social media platforms in the country.
Fani-Kayode, in a tweet on Saturday added that the government of President Muhammadu Buhari intends to criminalize use of social media without approval by the Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation (NBC).
Recall that the FG on Friday indefinitely suspended Twitter operations in the country.
Fani-Kayode said, “I have been reliably informed that it is the intention of the FG to eventually close down social media completely in Nigeria. Until that time comes they intend to make it a criminal offence to use social media without NBC approval or registration.
“Nigeria is now a police state!”
