Ruben Dias has won the 2020/2021 English Premier League ‘Player of the Season’ award.
The Manchester City defender helped the Pep Guardiola side win the Premier League in his debut season in England.
Dias, 24, who joined Manchester City from Benfica for a record fee of £65 million, won the award after voting by a combination of public votes with those of 20 club captains and a panel of football experts.
The Portuguese made 32 league appearances for Man City. The Champions conceded a total of 32 goals in the league.
He made a total of 35 interceptions, 24 tackles, 23 blocks and 135 recoveries.
Dias also managed 88 clearances, 47 headed clearances, won 61 aerial duels and completed 2,438 passes.
The defender who earlier won the Football Writer’s Association award beat his City team-mate Kevin De Bruyne, who won it last year, Bruno Fernandes, Jack Grealish, Harry Kane, Mason Mount, Mohamed Salah and Tomas Soucek to the award.
