Armed men suspected to be Fulani militias have been reported to have killed 36 residents of Shikaan Mbagena Kpav community in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.
The incident occurred on Thursday night when the armed men invaded the community and slaughtered scores, according to Daily Post.
The online news platform quoted a source to have reported that 36 bodies have been recovered while scores are still missing after the attack.
It was also gathered that some students of the College of Education in Katsina-Ala were also killed.
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Anene Sewuese Catherine said she was yet to receive the report.
“I have not received this report from officers on ground yet,” she said.
The development has raised outrage in social media as users resorted in using the hashtag #BenueUnderAttack.
Benue has for some time now become a familiar hunting ground for suspected Fulani herdsmen who have continued to defy security operatives to attack locals at their homes.
