Kabiru Isah, a police detergent in Kano has been rewarded with a sum of N100,000 after returning N1.2 million belonging to a deceased accident victim.
Isah returned the money to the relatives of the victim in Kano State.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abdullahi Haruna, said Isah who is a policeman attached to the command’s Motor Traffic Division recovered the money while inspecting an accident scene on the Kano-Zaria Road.
According to Haruna, the victim who is on a motorcycle was knocked down by an articulated vehicle and he died on the spot.
Haruna said, “The police officer returned N1,294,200 found at the scene of the fatal accident.”
He revealed that the state Commissioner of Police, Sama’ila Dikko, handed over the money to the relatives of the deceased.
The commissioner also urged other iofficers to emulate the honest police officer.
News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Managing Director, Kano Road Traffic Agency, Baffa Dan-Agundi, was said to have presented a gift of N100,000 as a reward for his honesty and dedication to duty.
