Insecurity: Gunmen Burn Police Station In Abia


Unknown gunmen on Wednesday burnt Bende Police Station, in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.

Sources told VANTAGE NEWS that the attackers stormed the station around 11 pm, shooting sporadically before setting the station ablaze.

The State Police Command has confirmed  that two vehicles and three motorcycles, including a highlander vehicle belonging to the Divisional Police Officer of the Station, were burnt down by the gunmen.

The attack comes barely six hours after Governor Okezie Ikpeazu left Bende LGA headquarters after a civic reception of a three-time (12 years) immediate past House of Representatives member who represented Bende Federal Constituency, Hon. Nnenna Ukeje.

Unknown gunmen had also burnt the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) office at Amaekpu in Ohafia Local Government Area of the state.

VANTAGE NEWS learnt that the gunmen started shooting sporadically before setting the station ablaze.

The police station is less than 10 metres from the LGA headquarters.
