Gunmen attacked and razed the divisional police station in Obosi, Idemili North LGA of Anambra, killing two officers.
NAN reports that after burning down the station, the gunmen moved to the police quarters where they killed the two personnel.
The attack took place in the early hours of Thursday.
Tochukwu Ikenga, the Anambra command’s public relations officer (PPRO), confirmed the incident to NAN.
The police spokesman said Chris Owolabi, commissioner of police in the state, had dispatched a tactical team for on-the-spot assessment of the incident.
He said: “The tactical team led by an assistant commissioner of police was directed to have an on-the-spot assessment of the place.
“The team was equally told to possibly identify and apprehend the hoodlums that perpetrated the attack.”
Ikenga said the bodies of the two policemen had been deposited at a morgue, adding that investigation into the matter had commenced.
The Obosi incident is the second such attack on a police facility in Anambra in the past two weeks.
Gunmen had razed the zone 13 police headquarters in Ukpo, during a violent attack on April 19.
TheCable learned that the hoodlums had invaded the station and opened fire on police officers.
In March, an officer died of gunshot injuries, following an attack on a police patrol team along the Nimo-Neni link road in Anaocha LGA of the state.
