The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has denied any involvement in the attack on the home of the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma.
IPOB described those linking the group with the attack that took place on Saturday as “liars.”
The spokesman for the group, Emmanuel Powerful, said this while featuring on Channels Television’s programme, ‘Politics Today,’ on Sunday.
Describing those linking the incident to the secessionist group as liars, Powerful stressed that neither IPOB nor the Eastern Security Network (ESN) was responsible for the incident.
“They are liars, and they are not saying the truth,” he said.
He added, “They don’t want to tell the citizens that Nigeria is almost collapsing, and IPOB has decided that nothing will stop them to back out on this course for Biafra restoration.
“We are planning to get Biafra, but God knows the time. Anybody can say whatever he or she likes, it does not concern us.”
VANTAGE NEWS reported that unknown gunmen numbering about 15, attacked the home of Uzodinma, setting vehicles in the compound ablaze after engaging security operatives in the compound in a shootout.
