A Senior Special Adviser to Enugu State government on local government affairs, Honourable Ishiwu Clinton, has praised Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his giant strides in youth development.

Speaking at the grand finale of the Gburugburu Solidarity Cup held at Nru Boys Secondary School on Saturday, Ishiwu who sponsored the tournament stated that Ugwuanyi has been able to incorporate youths into his government.

He said, “History has it that Gburugburu (Governor Ugwuanyi) is the only governor of Enugu state to incorporate a lot of young men and women into various positions. He has been empowering the youths through various projects. Nothing beats preparing for a greater tomorrow and the governor is on the right track in that regard.”

“For the governor to honour an invitation by a young man like me says a lot about his commitment to encouraging and empowering youths. If it was in the past, I will not be able to host this kind of tournament and then bring the governor around. He came here today because he has the youths at heart, anything that concerns the youth, he goes a long way to show his support.”

Ishiwu stated that his desire to encourage the youths pushed him to host the football tournament that involved teams from the six local government areas of Enugu North senatorial zone.

“Growing up I enjoyed the game of football and I still play it up till date. Looking around I noticed that it is a game that will actually unite and engage the youths. I noticed that for us to reduce social vices and actually bring the people of Enugu north together one of the ways to do so is through the game of football.

“I am motivated by the need for unity, peace and for oneness among the people of Enugu north Secretariat zone.”

Commenting on some of the challenges encountered during preparations for the tournament, Ishiwu said, “There were lots of challenges. We had some security challenges but thank God that the Local government Chairman of Udenu, Solomon Onah provided some security measures for us to actually host this together.

He urged youths of the zone to stay united, saying “I urge youths of Enugu North to love and support themselves. The greatest commandment is love. It will go a long way in building unity, peace and progress and in harnessing the potential that we have in us.
Ishiwu, who said he will continue hosting the tournament in subsequent years, promised not to stop extending a helping hand to people.
He said, “With the level of success achieved in this particular one, I am actually motivated to continue hosting the tournament. I don’t even intend to stop.”
“God doesn’t bless you for yourself. God blesses you to bless others. He blesses you because He knows that some people will depend on you. Whatever you have is a gift from God. All I do for people is to the glory of Gods name. I do not intend to stop. It is in my nature to ease people’s sufferings and to help hem solve their problems,” he added
He thanked the people of Nsukka for their support, saying, “First of all, I am overwhelmed with the love my people showed me today. I never expected the large crowd here today. I was not expecting it any way considering that this is Easter period. Business men and women are here. If you look around, you will not just see the youth, you will see the Igwes, women groups and a host of others.”
