There were no confirmed casualties, but the Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident.
According to Oke-Osanyintolu, the fire has been doused by a rescue team and men of Lagos Fire Service.
In his words, “Mop up is being concluded at about 6a.m. Saturday and recovery effort ongoing.”
Recall that the Otedola Bridge has been associated with several fire disasters, one of which was on October 17, last year. Also one of the most deadly occurred Thursday, June 28, 2018.
According to reports from Vanguard, the incident of 2018 was so disastrous that DNA had to be used to identify the remains of humans consumed by the fire.
It’s now 3 times in 3 years with same incident at the same spot on the Bridge.
Reacting to this, Nigerians have taken to social media to call on authorities to question the existence of Otedola Bridge, by asking and seeking deep answers from Otedola himself.
