The President Muhammadu Buhari and former military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, are meeting in Aso Villa, Abuja.
Bashir Ahmad, Personal Assistant on New Media to the President, in a tweet said his principal received Abdulsalami on Friday afternoon.
“President @MBuhari receives in audience former Head of State Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar (rtd.) at the State House, Abuja,” Ahmad tweeted.
The presidential aide, however, did not disclose the purpose of the meeting between the two leaders.
Abdulsalami, who is the Chairman of the National Peace Committee, was Nigeria’s Head of State between June 1998 and May 1999. He handed over power to Olusegun Obasanjo as a democratically elected President, which ushered in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic and return to democracy after years under military rule.
