Anambra Police Arrests Eight Over Cult Killings, Recover Arms

Eight suspected cultists have been arrested by the Anambra State Police Command in Okija community of Ihiala Local Government Area.

The arrested men allegedly stormed the community, killing and beheading some of their victims.

The gang allegedly cut off the head of one of their victims in the presence of his nonagenarian mother.

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, the suspects were arrested by the police in conjunction with the military and other security agencies in the state.

Those arrested are; Chika Nnekezie (31); Chidi Amadike (26); Maduabaka Obidiazor (30); and Chinemelum Okeke (19).

Others include; Ugbe Lucky (27); Ekene Ebubeze (38); Somto Chukwu (25); and Ifeanyi Eze (22).

Tochukwu added that the police recovered some locally-made guns and other weapons from the arrested suspects.

“Operatives also recovered from the suspects one long locally-made dane gun, two locally-made double-barrelled pistols, one live cartridge, two knives, one jungle army camp beret, one red beret, two police belts, one shisha smoking pot and a substance suspected to be cannabis sativa,” Tochukwu said.
