George Floyd’s Family To Receive $27 Million From Minneapolis

The family of George Floyed whose death sparked months of protests after a video showed a white police officer kneeling on his neck, will receive a pay of $27m from the City of Minneapolis.

According to reports, the payment to settle the family’s lawsuit was among the largest of its kind.

It comes as the police officer, Derek Chauvin, is set to go on trial this month for charges including second-degree murder.

Speaking after the agreement, Mayor Jacob Frey stated it was a milestone for the future of the city.
