Yoruba Rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has commented on the failed attempt to arrest him on Friday.
VANTAGE NEWS reported that a joint team of policemen and the Department of State Services attempted to arrest Igboho along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Friday.
In a video obtained by VANTAGE NEWS, Igboho was seen topless walking along with his men daring the security operatives to “do their worst” before they drove off.
Reacting on Friday during an interview with The PUNCH, Igboho said he was never invited by the police, adding that he will not be intimidated by attempts to arrest him.
He also asked the police to focus their energy on arresting popular Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Gumi, who has been meeting with bandits recently, and the leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau.
He said, “I was never invited. They just lay in ambush for me at Guru Maharaji and started shooting. They started shouting, ‘Where is Sunday Igboho?’ I identified myself and asked them what the problem was. They said I was under arrest and I said, ‘For what? On my father’s land? That was how it degenerated.
“When they noticed how tense everywhere was, they fled. They came in four Hilux vans and a Toyota Land Cruiser. There are bandits operating all over the place but people like me who are defending our fatherland are the ones you want to arrest. Why?”
