A 42-year-old man, David Idibie has been arrested by the Lagos State Police for beating his wife, Juliana Idibie to death in their Lagos residence at Joado Street, Oke Ira Nla, Ajah Area.
VANTAGE NEWS learnt that the deceased had engaged her husband in a hot argument on the night of February 16, 2021 at about 10 pm.
Juliana reportedly slumped and sustained a severe head injury while in the heated argument on a matrimonial issue with David
David reportedly refused to rescue her while she lay on the floor in a pool of her blood until she gave up the ghost.
The spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Adejobi Olumuyiwa, who confirmed the incident, said that police operative attached to Langbasa Division, Ajah, who was informed of the unfortunate incident by a neighbour of the couple, raced to the scene, arrested the suspect and evacuated the corpse to the mortuary.
Reacting over the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu, promised to work with relevant government agencies and Non-Governmental bodies to fight against domestic violence in the state.
He ordered that David’s matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for thorough investigation.
Odumosu advised couples to always resolve their differences maturely because the law will not spare anyone that harms his or her spouse.
The CP commiserated with the family off the victim, and promised to get justice for her.
