A lecturer at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Chigozie Odum, has been suspended by the institution for allegedly sexually harassing a student.
VANTAGE NEWS had reported that Odum who is a senior lecturer at the department of Tourism and Archaeology was arrested by the men of Nigerian Police (crack squad) following series of sexual harassment of female students.
Our correspondent gathered that Odum is well known for sexually harassing female students of his department and the Faculty of Arts.
A female student who spoke to VANTAGE NEWS on the condition of anonymity said that she is excited that Odum whom she described as a “sexual predator” has finally been caught.
According to her, Odum’s offensive sexual behaviour is a common knowledge among female students of the department of Archaeology and Tourism.
A female student identified as Chinyere Onah who was allegedly harassed by Odum reported the incident to the university authority.
Reacting to the development, the university issued a statement on Monday, informing Odum that he has been suspended from duty immediately.
The statement signed by the institution’s Deputy Registrar, Personnel Services, Achiuwa F C, asked Odum to stay away from duty until the final determination of the allegation labelled against him.
