A letter confirming the appointment of President Muhammadu Buhari’s junior media aide, Bashir Ahmad, as a manager of powerful and lucrative division at the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has been leaked.
An online news platform, Peoples Gazette, had on Monday, broken the story that Buhari secretly appointed his aide as a manager at the DPR, attracting some backlash from Nigerians on social media.
But Ahmad swiftly denied being appointed into any position at the DPR. He called the story fake, saying that he does not even know where the office of the federal government parastatal in question is.
On Tuesday, however, Peoples Gazette released a letter of appointment which had the name of the presidential aide on it as proof to back up their initial report.
