Many Nigerians are reacting angrily to the arrest and harassment of #OccupyLekkiTollGate protesters by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
See reactions below:
Mr Macaroni and others were charged with breaking the 50 person gathering rule and disobeying the order to not protest. Over 100 policemen were present in Lekki toll gate to arrest peaceful protesters but they didn’t break the 50 person gathering rule? lmaooo 🤡 🤡 🤡 #EndSars

Seeing MR Macaroni suffer so much is heartbreaking. His only crime is wanting a better life for his countrymen. This guy hustles legitimately, puts in so much effort to make people laugh but is rewarded with an experience that might traumatise him. #EndSARS

All elected government officials have suddenly disappeared from the TL today. Not a single person is saying a word to condemn the impunity – arresting peaceful protesters. Things could have been done differently; they could have been protected. Would have changed a lot. #EndSARS

Protesting peacefully is not a crime. An order not to protest is unconstitutional. #EndSars

Federal Government must release Debo Macaroni and others immediately or be ready to arrest millions of us across the country. Peaceful protest is one of the inalienable rights we enjoy as enshrined in our constitution, The Africa chatter on People's right and United Nation….SDM

The 1999 Nigerian constitution, as amended (Section 40) guarantees the right of citizens to peaceful protest. The courts have also affirmed that right. Anything contrary to that is not acceptable and stands condemned.

What happened today was very much expected. It's not hard to believe and it's a very sad REALITY, I really hope all these becomes history and I hope we tell these stories in a better place. This is sad!
The saddest part: these peaceful protesters did nothing wrong#endsars

The Oppressors & Dictators In Govt Don't Understand The Language Of Peace. What They Fear Most Is a Radicalised Movement. A Movement That Is Willing To Go The Extreme End & Fight Back, Tit For Tat. The Tyrants Continue To Reign Because The People Refuse To Fight Back. #EndSARS
