The Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has emerged as the new leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South East geopolitical zone.
Ugwuanyi, was on Monday unanimously adopted to replace the Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi who decamped to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking to newsmen after a party meeting in Enugu, Ali Odefa, the PDP Vice Chairman (South-East) said Ugwuanyi was adopted because of his strong commitment to the PDP.
He said, “We unanimously adopted Gov Ugwuanyi as leader of PDP in the South East zone because of his immeasurable contributions in the region.”
Odefa expressed optimism that Ugwuanyi will deliver in his new position, saying, “We are sure and satisfied that he will lead South-East PDP to success.”
