Reports reaching VANTAGE NEWS indicate that there is pandemonium in Orlu, Imo State following a massive hunt for members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) by soldiers.
The ESN is a security outfit established by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) primarily to safeguard forests in the Eastern region.
Establishment of the security outfit by the NNamdi Kanu-led IPOB has faced stiff opposition from the federal government and the South East Governors Forum.
Monday’s unrest is among series of similar situation in the Orlu area of Imo State believed to be the operational base of ESN.
An eyewitness simply identified as Chinedu told VANTAGE NEWS that he saw a group of heavily armed soldiers shooting sporadically while on his way to a market in the area.
Another source told our correspondent that she saw many “angry-looking” and heavily armed soldiers invading peoples homes and arresting some youths.
Many residents have reportedly abandoned their homes and businesses as a result of the unrest.
